Why convert at all
PDF is a document format. Comic readers built around CBZ get page-spread detection, reading direction, thumbnail grids and per-page bookmarks — features a PDF viewer generally does not offer for scanned comics.
What you get out
A standard CBZ: a ZIP of sequentially numbered page images. Pages are rendered at 2× scale so text and line art stay sharp when you zoom, then encoded to a web-friendly format.
Nothing leaves your device
Rendering and packing both happen in your browser. The PDF is never uploaded, so this is safe to use on scans and documents you would not want to put through a web service.
Questions
Does the text stay searchable?
No. CBZ is an image format by definition, so any selectable text in the PDF becomes part of the page image. If you need text search, keep the PDF — or read it in BiblioFuse, which can OCR pages on device.
What resolution are the pages rendered at?
2× the PDF's native page size, which keeps line art and lettering sharp when zoomed. Larger PDFs therefore take longer and use more memory.
Can it convert back the other way?
